Breast Cancer Awareness

Chances are we all know someone who has been affected by Breast Cancer. It is estimated that about 1 in 8 American women will develop invasive breast cancer within their lifetime. This is why every October we come together to create awareness. No matter if it’s bake sales, a 10k, or simply wearing pink everything counts.

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NBCAM) was created in 1985. It has come hand in hand with its pink ribbon symbol and the “Race for the Cure” which was first held in 1983. The first race only had 800 participants and in 2002 it was in over 100 different cities with 1.3 million participants!

Every year we raise awareness is another year closer to a breast cancer free world. Living in the United States alone are about 2.8 million brave breast cancer survivors. By creating awareness we advance treatments and detection. Even in the past few years we have discovered new and better treatments, imaging, and testing to not only help fight breast cancer but to prevent it all together.

No awareness is too small it could help save lives!
